I have a little dog name
Panzon (well it´s actually my family´s), the race it´s a yorkshire toy, even
though he is like 6 years old, it looks like a puppy. Years back my little
brother wanted a puppy so my mother let him with only one condition: it had to
be a small race (the other reason it´s because he´s the youngest one so my
parents never say no to him). Before Panzon we had another puppy name Pillin,
it was the same race a little bit smaller and really funny (specially the way
he ate, lifting his 2 back legs), but he had a different path, he got lost, we
tried to find him but didn´t have any luck… I felt so sad that I cried, it was
like losing a relative, he was a part of the family.
When I was little, we had two
dogs but we moved to another country so we found them another family to live
with, it was sad but happy at the same time (you must be thinking why??, easy
the other family was our neighbors). The other pet (actually the strangest one
we had) was a bunny, really small, white and naughty (ate everything on her
way!!!).
I really love pets, because
they make company and give you sweetness, they simply are innocent. I think if I had the space and money I will
have a lot of pets, especially dogs (I prefer common pets than exotic ones).
They are like little babies that want to be love!!!
When en I was a kid like 10 years old, my dream was
to visit USA, to see the things they showed in the movies, and of course to
speak the language like them. When I was
12 the dream came true, at the beginning it was a month of vacation with my
family to visit other family members and to see a new country. I remember I was
so excited to be there, to eat their food, to listen them speak, see the parks,
watch TV… yes, I was excited about everything.
Then the vacation turned into a permanent staying.
At the beginning I didn´t like the idea, because I had all my friends and family
back in Chile, I got so sad and in a denial that I was failing all my classes.
But later on, when I made friends and started to see the life the people had in
the beautiful town of Half Moon Bay, California; everything
changed.
I got to know the traditions of the town, like the
parades of the fourth of July or the events on the main street for a special
date, and the most important event of the year, Halloween: meaning the pumpkin
festival (It was the best Halloween ever, with a lot of candy, chocolate,
parades, and pumpkin that I had).
All of the experience felt like a dream, a lot of
years have passed but I definitely would live there again, because it´s such a
quiet, traditional and beautiful place, that I´ll never forget
I´m going to write about a site that I like to visit because I really
like the web design, even though it´s not about graphic design, it´s the
official web site of Absolut Vodka.
Well I don´t visit the site that often, because I don´t have a lot of
free time to navigate online, but if I have to guess a number is twice a month
(approximately). I have two reason why I like this site, one I mentioned
earlier, but I have to add that I like the design because it´s really modern
and follows the simple and minimalist design of the bottles, capturing the
essence of the product and the brand. The second reason is because I´m a
bartender, so I like to see new recipes, learn them and later try them (where I
work or with friends).
The site has a home with 4 others sections: drinks, products, about
absolut and press. On the home there is a slide of pictures with the title of
the sections plus 11 more, all of them related with the product in different
ways (like rumors, what´s new, stories, people´s opinion, etc.). There´s also full information about new
flavors, videos about drinks, products beside de vodka and a search to the
drink you’re looking for.
My favorite section it´s the drinks, because it´s has recommendations, recipes,
it teaches you how to mix, the classic, what people are drinking, etc. For me
it´s a lot of information that actually makes me have a fun time, so cheers!!!
I love movies, since I was a little girl (I even wanted to be a film
director like Steven Spielberg); that´s the reason I have a lot of favorite
films because I find each and every one of them different and special, full of
a lot of emotions (it could be happiness, sadness, nostalgia, etc.).
So, it’s difficult for me to decide which is my favorite movie, but I can tell
you about the first story (movie) that I liked so much that I can watch it a thousand
times and never get bored. I like this film because it’s a real life experience
from World War II, but it’s not all blood and sadness, it has happiness, music
and family love. I was probably like 10 years old when I first saw it, I was in
my friend’s house and she told me to pick any movie to watch, so I picked “The
sound of music”, I didn´t know what it was about, I just liked the colors and the
nice cover (later I realized how much I like true life stories and musicals).
The movie is from the director Robert Wise (don´t know others movies
by him), and the main actress is Julie Andrews (yes, Merry Poppins!!) and a
cast with a lot of kids. The story is about a nun that goes to the Von Trapp
family like a governess to help the widower father, having in charge 7 rebels kids
between 17 and 6 years old. At the beginning they don’t get along but with
love, music and funny games, they start caring for each other in such a level
that the captain (father) and the nun fall in love, this means they became a
big happy family. The sad part is that they were in the middle of the war, so
the Nazis wanted the captain for the army against his will, that’s why (like a
family) they escaped leaving behind their old life to have a new one in another
country.
I don´t like the end that much, because it’s an open one, this means
that they don’t show if they make it, but I like to believe they did, and lived
happily ever after =). This story made me realize that everything is possible,
even if it seems impossible there’s always happiness in the end.
It
was 1996, or so I remember, on a beautiful day in Iquique. It was a year in
which chores and homework were not a problem for this two girls to be worried
about.
I
may not remember the year, but I sure remember it was summer and it was January
15th, the only day that separated our birthdays, a special day that
united us, in a sense a lot bigger than friendship, that special day we were
sisters. I know her since I got memory, our parents lived in the same street in
Iquique before we even were born, they got to know each other and became
friends immediately, but it was out of luck that we were roommates in the
hospital, and later on, we never separated. She was born the 14th, I
was born the 16th, and the 15th was OUR day, the day that
we decided we would celebrate together for the rest of our lives, and this
photo is an example taken that special day by my father.
We
became best friends along the way, sharing experiences, food, laughs,
relationships, even zodiac signs!
We
later decided to remake this photograph in our 2009 version of ourselves, in
the same stance and smile, and it was a replica, the same energy and good vibe
was reflected, and we still laugh at this photograph today, remembering that
the year I was born, I was to be followed not only by my shadow, but also by my
best friend, Anneliese.
Now
I watch a lot of TV series (well when I have free time), but when I was a
little girl I only watched one, that for me it´s the best show ever, I´m
talking about: BAYWATCH!!! And even
though it´s from the nineties (that means old), I didn´t miss it (every Sunday at
8 pm I was in front a TV).
Well,
the show it´s about the work of a team of lifeguards and their personal relationships
in the city of Los Angeles, they patrol the beaches of the city to make them
safer. The scenes usually centered on danger related to the beach or activities
related with the beach lifestyle like sharks attacks, earthquakes, big waves,
serial killers, thieves, and of course saving a lot of people of drowning. The
main character was Mitch Buchannon (he
actually appears in 10 of the 11 seasons), he was the leader of the team of
lifeguards, a single parent, that love his job on the beach, and for me was a
regular guy that wasn´t afraid of anything (a real hero), he always knew what
to do in extremes situations. The others characters were younger women and men,
those change a lot during the seasons and run slowly on the beach.
I love the show because it´s set on a beach,
and I lived, when I was little, on a city with one. I think it´s different of
others TV shows because it made it more real; I mean I actually thought that
could happen on Iquique (well I was like 8 years old so I had a big imagination
but it made me feel that it was possible, I even wanted to be a lifeguard). I just
loved watching the sea, the waves, the adventures on the beach (beside it had
action, drama, comedy, a little bit of everything), it had the perfect
combination for a show.
Well,
this is a really hard topic to write about, because I don´t get along with
technology (yes I know, I´m studying graphic design) and I don´t like that much.
Since I got in this career I‘ve had like
5 computers, the one I have now, let’s say it´s a miracle that actually works
(I think it’s because I wanted it so badly that I take a really good care of it,
and don´t let anybody touch it); I use it for everything: listening to music,
do homework and since I don’t have a TV I watch my series on it. The other artifact
that I use a lot is my iPod, I can’t travel anywhere without it, even though I
don´t change the music since forever (iTunes it’s just too complicated) and I have
to add that I got a new iPod, with a really lot of GBs, but I don´t know how to
use it (I feel like a monkey).
So, I
think my third artifact and the one I´m addicted to is my blackberry, the one
thing I use every day and all the time, even if I’m camping. I got it as a Christmas
present last year, I have to say, I don’t know how it works completely it but
with the things I know it makes me really happy and totally connected with the
world and the technology (I´m such a modern person hahahaha), specially having
whatsApp, makes me feel in contact with my friends even if they are in another
country. I think that I just can´t live without it, I’m just addicted to it; I probably
wouldn’t talk that much with my close friends.
