The sound of music

I love movies, since I was a little girl (I even wanted to be a film director like Steven Spielberg); that´s the reason I have a lot of favorite films because I find each and every one of them different and special, full of a lot of emotions (it could be happiness, sadness, nostalgia, etc.).
So, it’s difficult for me to decide which is my favorite movie, but I can tell you about the first story (movie) that I liked so much that I can watch it a thousand times and never get bored. I like this film because it’s a real life experience from World War II, but it’s not all blood and sadness, it has happiness, music and family love. I was probably like 10 years old when I first saw it, I was in my friend’s house and she told me to pick any movie to watch, so I picked “The sound of music”, I didn´t know what it was about, I just liked the colors and the nice cover (later I realized how much I like true life stories and musicals).

The movie is from the director Robert Wise (don´t know others movies by him), and the main actress is Julie Andrews (yes, Merry Poppins!!) and a cast with a lot of kids. The story is about a nun that goes to the Von Trapp family like a governess to help the widower father, having in charge 7 rebels kids between 17 and 6 years old. At the beginning they don’t get along but with love, music and funny games, they start caring for each other in such a level that the captain (father) and the nun fall in love, this means they became a big happy family. The sad part is that they were in the middle of the war, so the Nazis wanted the captain for the army against his will, that’s why (like a family) they escaped leaving behind their old life to have a new one in another country.
I don´t like the end that much, because it’s an open one, this means that they don’t show if they make it, but I like to believe they did, and lived happily ever after =). This story made me realize that everything is possible, even if it seems impossible there’s always happiness in the end.

Here is the trailer, enjoy!!!

Always together

It was 1996, or so I remember, on a beautiful day in Iquique. It was a year in which chores and homework were not a problem for this two girls to be worried about.

I may not remember the year, but I sure remember it was summer and it was January 15th, the only day that separated our birthdays, a special day that united us, in a sense a lot bigger than friendship, that special day we were sisters. I know her since I got memory, our parents lived in the same street in Iquique before we even were born, they got to know each other and became friends immediately, but it was out of luck that we were roommates in the hospital, and later on, we never separated. She was born the 14th, I was born the 16th, and the 15th was OUR day, the day that we decided we would celebrate together for the rest of our lives, and this photo is an example taken that special day by my father.
We became best friends along the way, sharing experiences, food, laughs, relationships, even zodiac signs!
We later decided to remake this photograph in our 2009 version of ourselves, in the same stance and smile, and it was a replica, the same energy and good vibe was reflected, and we still laugh at this photograph today, remembering that the year I was born, I was to be followed not only by my shadow, but also by my best friend, Anneliese.

I won´t let you out of my sight

Now I watch a lot of TV series (well when I have free time), but when I was a little girl I only watched one, that for me it´s the best show ever, I´m talking about: BAYWATCH!!!  And even though it´s from the nineties (that means old), I didn´t miss it (every Sunday at 8 pm I was in front a TV).
Well, the show it´s about the work of a team of lifeguards and their personal relationships in the city of Los Angeles, they patrol the beaches of the city to make them safer. The scenes usually centered on danger related to the beach or activities related with the beach lifestyle like sharks attacks, earthquakes, big waves, serial killers, thieves, and of course saving a lot of people of drowning. The main character  was Mitch Buchannon (he actually appears in 10 of the 11 seasons), he was the leader of the team of lifeguards, a single parent, that love his job on the beach, and for me was a regular guy that wasn´t afraid of anything (a real hero), he always knew what to do in extremes situations. The others characters were younger women and men, those change a lot during the seasons and run slowly on the beach.
I love the show because it´s set on a beach, and I lived, when I was little, on a city with one. I think it´s different of others TV shows because it made it more real; I mean I actually thought that could happen on Iquique (well I was like 8 years old so I had a big imagination but it made me feel that it was possible, I even wanted to be a lifeguard). I just loved watching the sea, the waves, the adventures on the beach (beside it had action, drama, comedy, a little bit of everything), it had the perfect combination for a show.
